Birth center suites are private rooms designed specifically for labor and delivery in a setting that feels more personal than a hospital. These suites give you a warm, comfortable space for your baby’s birth, where you have the freedom to move, choose your positions, and create the atmosphere you want during labor and delivery.
The birthing suites at The Birth Center of New Jersey meet all local, state, and federal health, fire, and safety regulations. The center is licensed by the State Department of Health and run by professionally accredited, licensed midwives. These suites provide you with a birth experience that’s natural, relaxing, and safe.
Birth center suites support the midwifery model of care, which views pregnancy and birth as natural processes rather than medical emergencies. The suites allow you to birth at your own pace without interventions to rush or slow labor. You stay in the same private room for labor, delivery, and recovery, eliminating transfers during the birth process.
In birth center suites, you interact freely with family, eat and drink as you choose, walk and move throughout labor, and receive support from the people you want around you. Siblings and other family members are welcome to be part of your birth experience.
Research shows birth centers lead to fewer cesarean sections (C-sections) and reduced preterm deliveries compared to hospital births for low-risk pregnancies and deliveries.
Most insurance companies also provide reimbursement for accredited birth center care, and the cost is typically less than traditional hospital deliveries.
Each birthing suite at The Birth Center includes equipment and features to support your labor and delivery:
You control the atmosphere in your suite, choosing the lighting, music, and who you want present for your baby’s arrival. Many families go home 4-8 hours after birth rather than staying for extended hospital stays.
