Nicola Pemberton, MD, FACOG, is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist and the medical director of The Birth Center of New Jersey in West Union, New Jersey. A recognized leader in women’s health, Dr. Pemberton is passionate about helping women experience safe, empowering, and minimally invasive births.
Featured in The New York Times and a Netflix documentary about childbirth, Dr. Pemberton is celebrated for her compassionate approach and tireless service—especially during the pandemic, when she safely delivered hundreds of babies and became a local hero to many.
Dr. Pemberton earned her undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Miami and her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada. She completed her clinical rotations in England and her OB/GYN residency at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, where she was recognized for her teaching excellence. She later served as a faculty member at Maimonides Medical Center and as a clinical assistant professor at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University.
In addition to childbirth, Dr. Pemberton offers advanced gynecologic care, including laparoscopic and robotic procedures, as well as a range of in-office treatments. She lives in Union County with her husband and three children.
